A doe of mine had a kid earlier today. The past 2 kiddings of hers have been twins so I am surprised to see only 1 this time. The doeling born today had one leg back so I had to assist in the birth. About an hour later she passed the afterbirth. Generally my does slim down almost immediately after kidding but this doe still looks like she is pregnant. She is also still pawing at the ground and still appears uncomfortable and keeps tilting her pelvis down and pushing a little. Could she still have a baby inside? I have felt around and I don't feel any kicking. Should I be concerned?

I have seen does contract for several hours after finishing kidding and act uncomfortable. Also, older does tend to not loose their baby belly as soon as younger does. she is probably done. but it isn't that hard to reach in a little ways and feel around.

Thanks! I too am in Virginia. :) I raise Kikos and savanna goats. The baby born today looks like boer. My doe has some explaining to do. Lol I know there is no boer in my bloodlines.

he forsure looks like a Boer. That is really weird, No little boer bucklings running around on your property or the breeders property 5 months ago??? That is a good sized kid.
And hello: I remember talking to you a while ago, I recall the name and that you had savannas. I hope farming has been going well for you.

Things are good here. Another doe of mind had 3 beautiful snow white kids last week. 2 doelings and a buckling. No boers here unless there was one in the loose. She has a white smear above her nose. She looks like she fell head first into a pail of chocolate and Mama tasted a little bit off her nose. :) an Angel kiss maybe.

Just noticed all my typos. That's what I get for using my phone to post. I will try to post a pic of the buck tomorrow.
