i'm trying to become self-sufficient and i'm not ready yet but i've been thinking about bucks... i have two saanen does right now who are bred to a ginormous saanen buck. and i am about to buy a few angora goats. and i'm wanting to get some obers and nubians for my dairy herd. so that would be 4 breeds meaning i would need 4 bucks. at least 3 bucks... saanens aren't top priority.
so i've been thinking could i keep the bucks in one barn and pasture, the angoras in a second barn/pasture, and the dairys in a third barn/pasture.
for me i would be breeding the angoras in october, so put the angora buck in the angora pasture/barn. and i don't wanna have all my does kidding at once and i like spring kiddings so i would breed my dairys in december, so then i could put the ober buck in the dairy pasture/barn, and the nubian and saanen does could go in the buck pasture/barn with the nubian buck. and the angora could go back in with the angora does in december to check that they all got bred.
and i would have 3 or 4 bucks for stud.

hope it wasn't too confusing! :th
what do you guys think? could i keep the bucks together?

Yes, you can keep bucks together, if they are about the same size. We've never owned angoras, so have no idea how large they are. Some of our Nubian bucks in the past have been huge and surely could have terrorized a buck from a smaller breed. For this reason we don't keep our mature bucks with our juniors. Looking forward to hearing what other breeders have to say.

I have my 4 Nigerian Dwarf bucks together. They have an 8x12 shelter area with an additional 30x12 area to roam around in when they aren't in their pasture.

We keep all of our bucks together when not in their breeding pens. They play a little rough, but then again, that's how they play. The less aggressive ones know which one's to avoid as they establish their own pecking order, and they all do just fine.
