Good lookin' mkt. goats! You need to work closely with your Ag Extension people and the Boer associations for help and advise. Good luck and most of all, have fun.
Our first show was this weekend. It was a "training show" with 4-H, so my daughter had workshops in the morning, and then 3 classes in the afternoon. She competed in Novice Showmanship ages 11-13, and 2 separate weight classes of Feeder Goats. She placed in each class, brought home two second place ribbons and one third. I am VERY proud of her, considering we literally showed up with dirty hairy goats and she whupped them into shape.
We got LOTS of compliments on the condition of the goats. Many of the extremely experienced families were stopping by to look at them, compliment them, and ask her how she is feeding them. We have high hopes that with some more practice, and a little more weight on the goats, she might get to bring home a blue ribbon (and NO goat!). She has 5 more shows between now and September.
