Here are pictures of our first show! Technically I showed a wether about 17 years ago in 4-H, but I haven't shown since then. My 8 yr old stepson showed for the first time and he's hooked! Now I have a show buddy. :)

Here he is in his showmanship class. He did so well for his first time! He was disappointed to come in second. He's very hard on himself. The little girl who got first had a cast on her wrist, and she did a great job!

Here he is showing Ida in the junior kid class.

Tell him congratulations on his first show and placing. That is very good! Judge is "not required" to give
a 2nd in a class of 2, if kid is not "worthy" or working at his showing. Your boy looks good in the photos,
animal is wll-prepared, posed correctly and he is paying attention. He will get more of the show "tricks"
as he continues to compete and improve.

Congrats to you as well, he shows the homework you have done with him!!

Daughter has not done goats, but did pretty well at our Fair with her dairy calf and the horse in
Showmanship. Made the cut for top showmen in the calves. Judge took about 3 children from each of 4 BIG
classes of age 16-19 children. LOTS of calf Showmanship kids this year! Calf was wonderful, but she had a
lot of work in him, so he was very cooperative, I think she got a 5th. Pretty good for only 2nd year in cattle,
against some VERY tough cattle showing kids. I was proud of her and the calf.

Congratulations to all the children! They look really good out there with their animals. First, second, third, fourth, whatever, makes no difference. They should commended for their work with their animals. Best type of relationship! Relationship that grows into a responsibility. Best lesson ever taught in life.

Congratulation to you too parents for your job well done!

Thanks for sharing! :)

We have a 9 year old daughter Rachel who shows. We register many of our animals in her name so that she can show in ADGA Youth Shows.

I can tell you this, they are a great bunch of kids she hangs out with at the shows. She has a lot of fun, and we enjoy it as an entire family.

We have another show in 2 weeks.

Congrats. And that is a very nice looking Obie.
