It has been nearly two weeks of winter wonderland now and I must say I am enjoying it...as are the horses! It is actually in the 30's today and melting a little, but by Sunday it will be back to teens and 20's, and snowing again. It was only 5-6" but so pretty.

Hope everyone is doing well and staying warm and safe!

They sure are having fun! Two weeks of snow and I’d be going nuts!
It actually didn't melt for a month! But it was pretty to look at and they did plow every day so it became routine. Back to the 60's now so feeling like spring, but I am in New York visiting family...in snow. Looking forward to spring and getting back to working driving ponies though!

@murphysranch I am so glad you enjoy them! I remember that feeling from years ago, before I had horses. Still can't imagine life without them!

It was right over the border!

The last month has been incredibly full....and that is in spite of only thawing out from the snow in early March! But the first drives of the year have been completed and everyone came back beautifully! Even the feral Hackney, which was a huge breakthrough! The patch must have something to do with it for sure.

Amigo's Drive

The last consignment horse just left for her new home...a client horse was successfully started in the cart earlier this month...and a new one arrived today. An exciting prospect also just arrived!

Attached are a few more pictures "Around the farm" as the cold has finally given way to sunshine and 70°! 🌞

I finally counted all of the driving horses in training in 2024 and I don't think it is a number I'll be equaling soon!

2024 Driving Horses in Training

Hopefully everyone else is enjoying warmer weather or will be soon! Spring is already here and just around the corner for many others!

Not to be nosy... but where you in the Katonah/Bedford Hills area of NY ?... I was born and raised in Stamford CT and we drove through that area all the time, through the back way to go through Ridgefield to Danbury and to where I lived in Newtown CT.... It is pretty up there... but I have gotten much more used to the more "openess" here in Va even though I am in the Shen Valley against the Blue Ridge Mtns...
Sure can not afford to live up in that area nowadays....And I do not miss the "rush" of life up there... but I do miss not having as much "water"... lakes and ponds and running streams, that we had up there...

The "ponies" look to be enjoying the transition to spring... I know our cattle here are liking it. They are out looking for any green blade of grass they can find.. and scratching at their winter coats.....besides all the calves being born.
