Boone did great this morning with wheelchair. As the day goes on my back is improving as swelling goes down. (Wish my joints were same.
I walked into restaurant and hospital with him. Will likely use wheelchair rest of the day though as it doesn’t seem to take much to get bad again. It’s been awhile since we were in town at our regular places. Waitress at egg place was shocked at how big he has gotten, as well as the rheumatologist.

The nurse at rheumy’s office was really happy when I told her she could interact with him. He showed her all his favorite spots to be scritched, especially his belly, gave her kisses and reached out and touched her with his front footie. He wooh woohed for her as well, so there is a definite lifelong friendship blooming. He’s got way more friends than I do.
He takes up a LOT of real estate in those little Dr offices.

Afterwards, we went to the big ranch store. A man stopped us and said “I saw you at breakfast. I was really impressed by him”. When I told him Boone was only 14 mo old, he was even more impressed.
I decided to take advantage of the big aisles in the ranch store to do some training. He’s doing great on his directional cues, the only problem being he wants to walk too far forward. I want his head at my side, he wants his shoulder at my side. It’s a bit of a battle but pretty sure I am more stubborn than an LGD and I plan to win.

At one point he thought he would stop and take a sniff, resulting in his foot getting run over. Hopefully he learned not to do that again.

We went through Costco, he did awesome until we got in the checkout line and he clocked out early.

We went to Carl’s for a quick burger as it’s a good spot for Boone to practice as his table etiquette is still lacking..

And now he’s unvested and we are heading home. He loves short trips in the truck, running around town all day. It’s only when he realizes we are on the 4 hr stretch he gets upset. After making sure he doesn’t need to potty, we ignore him and drive a couple hours, then let him out for a sniffy stop so he can mark all the tumbleweeds and sagebrush, then he’s content the rest of the day, until we are about an hour out of town on the way home.
To be honest, I don’t speak fluent doggo, so he might just be repeating after me. “Gah! I hate this drive” “ geez my back hurts” “I swear this road keeps getting longer” “are we there yet?”
