I am thinking about getting a female pot belly piglet........Are females more freindlier then males? and I want to potty train her to be inside should this work?

Generally you're be happier with a female than a male.

Potty training can certainly be done...I've never bothered as mine have been kept outside but I know people do it all the time. They are very smart, but it takes time.

I just wondered into the pig section to ask the same question about males vs female for pets. We used to have a pot belied pig that was housebroke when I was young, it asked to go out and knew a few tricks including.g playing a small children's piano with its nose. They are very smart but they also get possessive. Ours got that way with my mother and started attacking the dogs anytime she showed them any attention so she had to go. We are getting 2 outdoor potbellies tommarow and I'm not sure if I want males or females.

In my area there are way too many people that get PBP for pets, then soon realize they don't want them. I really think it's a fad, with some, that needs to die out. I've done alot of rescue, but not with pigs. I have to admit, I'm afraid of them. Lol.. I guess being chased as a child by a huge pig, made me not want pigs now. All the animals we have right now are rescues. All 10. All but 9 have been here for years. I'm just saying, people need to think it out and even visit some PBP before getting any. It's sad to see them end up for free in newspaper ads, etc. They are intelligent animals and I'd say it breaks their hearts to be given away.

Males need to be castrated and have their scissor teeth removed or you shouldn't even consider them as a pet.

I have a young female and it took her 2 days to learn to potty outside.you just have to watch them for a few days really close.everytime she ate I took her our, when she woke up I took her out and then finally she realized when she needs to potty she has to go outside and she would find me and start squealing!so I would take her put.it's just like a puppy but I feel like she picked it up quicker then my dogs did!!
