We've had our two mini-potbellies for about two months now, they are unrelated and were supposed to be around 6 months when we got them. The previous owner thought that they might have bred. The female has filled out a bit more but no mammary enlargement. A few days ago I began to notice her becoming somewhat moody toward the male. NOW today she is acting very strange and being quite aggressive to the (smaller) male. She is squatting a lot (peeing?) and the male is also acting very excited. Her vulva somehow seems a bit pinker and somewhat more 'enhanced' (larger?). So I am thinking that she may be entering her (first?) heat? How does a female pig act before they give birth? I separated the male because I was afraid she was either going into labor or going to injure him. She was also chasing him out of the shelter and making 'nesting' behavior in there. I need to determine what is going on. Should I put the male BACK in with her? If it is a heat cycle why would she chase him off and act all PMS? How long are females in heat for? Hours? Days?

And yes, I do want them to breed.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
