Ok, so we have this potbelly cross girl. She is seriously huge (I don't know what she's crossed with).

Unfortunately she has the legs of the potbelly and the body build of what ever she is crossed to (huge). Her poor legs I don't think are able to take the pressure anymore.

Today when we went to feed she is dragging her rear around with her front legs. I can't get close enough to examine her because she wants to attack And the fact that she is in obvious pain makes matters worse and more dangerous.

I was afraid something like this would happen so, I've had her on a diet to try to reduce the strain on her legs without much luck with loss of weight.

She actually belongs to my mom...

My opinion is that we need to call the vet and have them come out to put her down...but my mom wants to try to help her.

I don't know what to do. We cannot exam her because she wants to eat us if we get to close (and she's capable of a lot of damage).

Any ideas?

I don't have any experience with pigs but I will not keep a dangerous animal on my farm. A friend of mine had an alpaca male that hit 3 years old, testosterone went up and he started attacking anyone that came into his pen. She had him put down. She was willing to take chances herself but the male tried to attack her son, that was the end of him. If you have kids, then I wouldn't be taking any chances, even if it is your mom's. If she wants to keep the pig, then she needs to move her to her own property. I'm not willing to budge on something like that for anyone.

I normally don't have a problem...even though I don't trust her and don't let the kids around because she's a pig...

But she's injured and the pain is making her aggressive...I'd like to help her but I don't know how to subdue a pig safely without a vet...if it were a dog or something I'd have no problem...but she's probably 250-300 pounds of muscle and fat...

Does anyone have any ideas?

Sounds awful, but at this point it sounds like you need to find a friend with a gun. :( Sorry. :hugs

Best of all options ... Send her to Freezer camp ! Then enjoy some nice bacon for breakfast and glazed ham for dinner.

Sounds like it could be staphylococcal meningitis. 15-ml depocillan (a type of penicillin available at tsc or feed store) 2x day for 5 days. If you do it you will have to wait 10-15 days before butchering if it doesn't work and you want to eat the meat. Even though the dose seems high, its what works best.
