Potted the duck...

So last night we tossed in a duck and set it for 10hrs. Base of potatoes, mushrooms, broccoli, some water, bit of chicken stock and a bit of salt/pepper.

Is the gray color for the bird in a pot normal? How do I deal w/the melted fat and whatnot in the bottom?

I should mention, it's a skinned duck, pulled most of the yellow off the meat.

How I had it is also how some websites said to do it...
