I received a beautiful 5 year old Nubian from friends. They were confident she was pregnant, due date Aug 28. Well she's still pregnant. We have thought maybe its a false pregnancy however the last 2 weeks the babies have been very active. I understand the rumen is on the left but the activity comes from both sides. I can talk to the belly and put my hand on it, pull my hand away and the baby starts moving.
She has started filling her udder the last couple of days but is its not super full yet, skin is still stretchy. This is my first goat and first kidding. Its been a crazy hard experience waiting over 8 weeks now. Any thoughts on when she will kid is appreciated. Im pretty sure I know the ligaments, they are finally squishy and I can almost feel my fingers around her tail base. Her backend is really soft. My biggest concern it this question and this is kind of weird, but does pregnant goat mucus have a certain smell? When i lift her tail to check for mucus or to see if her vulva is swelling there is this certain sweet smell. Im wondering if this is normal? Its not foul or bad smelling. Some days it's stronger than others.
She lost her mucus plug about 6 weeks ago. I was in the barn with her because I thought she was going to have the kids any day and a long whitish mucus stream came out.
Since then almost every day she has clear mucus. The previous owners said this is her 4th kidding. She's had triplets, quads, single and twin kiddings. Im just so tired of waiting and wanting to see the birth happen and make sure mama and babies are healthy.
I went thru the calendar from when they saw the Billy mate her and this weekend she would have gone through 3 more heat cycles. This is just crazy!
