I picked up a protein and mineral block yesterday to put in sheep pen.
I checked the label and it had copper listed on it. It was min 32 ppm. max was 36 I think.
It is labeled for sheep and goats.

Is this safe for my sheep. I put it with the goats today till I make sure its okay. I know that is not enough for my goats. I give them mineral specific for goats.
Those of you that know please fill me in.
I just want to make sure they are getting what they need

Personally, I go out of my way with not giving anything like that with copper to my sheep. Tried a protein block just for sheep when we first got sheep, and they thought their job was to eat as much of it as possible as quickly as possible...could hear them crunching it with their teeth...didn't lick it...chewed it down. So, haven't done that again since I think it is hard on their teeth.

I agree. Did it before, but won't do it again. I let them have free choice sheep mineral now without any copper

WAYYY too much copper. Sheep need 7-11 ppm of copper each day. The toxic level of copper is 25 ppm. Do not feed it to your sheep.

I just re read the label on that block
Its a min 5ppm
max 35 ppm

I'm wondering if copper is so toxic why is this product being labeled for sheep use.

That's a huge gap. Why do they have such a large gap like that? Weird.

idk I see that all the time and can't stand it. Like Sheep & Goat feed is sheep feed basically because it have no copper, or at least what sheep can have and less than goats need. If you have sheep or you have goat I would give them what they need, not the multi-purpose stuff.
