My 3 year old filly had been in training for almost two months now. About a week or two ago, I got a call from the trainer and he told me she had probably pulled a ligament. He went to ride her out in the round pen, and she was frisky and kicked out really hard. He got on her and she didnt feel right, so he figured she pulled something. He called his vet, and his vet said to keep her in a 12' X 12' stall for a day and give her some butte. If she was better the next day, he could work her lightly, if not, she would be sent back home for two weeks to heal/rest.

The next day she was walking around fine with no soreness, so my trainer worked her lightly.

Through the next week or so, she was beig ridden fine, 6 days a week.

Now today he was working her and as she went into a lope she got sore again. Through the walk and jog she was fine, but at the lope, she seemed sore.

He is not sure weather it is a pulled ligament, or OCD. I have never heard of OCD before but have read today that it is very common in horses. I am really hoping and praying it is just a pulled ligament. He is calling his vet who specializes in ligaments/joints and we are going to have a lameness test, ultrasound and or an x-ray.

So, my biggest questions:

1) How can I tell if it is a pulled ligament or OCD before going to the vet?
2) If it is OCD, is it curable/ What can I do to help it heal?
3) Have you had a horse with OCD? If so can you please fill me in with as much needed information as possible?

Thank You SO much!

Well i recommend you to learn more about magneto therapy.Stydies proved that it is effective on humans,so it rather works on horses. Moreover magneto therapy is cheaper than expensive drugs and so on and it safety and painless.I hope this information will help you.Good luck!Everything will be great!
