Hello all!
I am newer to goats (cows are more my thing because I grew up on a dairy farm)
I have a Nubian cross who kidded almost 2 weeks ago. We lost the kid :(. I am planning on getting a 5 month old buck. (I had our buck who was daddy but sold him in between the time of kidding and loosing the kid)
Can I put the new buck with the momma?
I Don’t want them to breed but she is sooo lonely. Ideally I know I want another girl, but I can’t find one right at the moment, we have been looking for a few weeks.
She is a mix Nubian and he is a full Nubian. I know some goats are seasonal breeders.
Are chances high they will try to breed or am I pretty “safe” for a few weeks in y’all opinion? Thanks!

He will try to breed her right away if she's in heat.

Is he significantly larger than the doe? Breeding a large buck to a smaller goat can cause complications at birth.
