Hi there, we have a calf that we are raising for beef with our kids. He is very lively, gets upset and wants more than his one bottle every 12 hours, and sniffs the grain but is not really eating it. We do have hay in his stall for bedding, and I just read that perhaps that is a bad idea? He is drinking water well too. My biggest question is that he had a tiny bit of scours a week ago after his first bottle with us. It was green and super snotty, no blood. I did the electrolytes between feedings for the 4 days the package stated. He is now pooping once a day green, no snot, but still runny. Is there something more I should be doing, is this the normal poo that he will have until solid food, and should I remove the hay as bedding. Thanks!

No problem with the hay, unless it's poor quality or dusty/musty/moldy. Calves often have green runny poo. Keep on doing what you're doing, and things will eventually level out and he'll start to eat his grain. Good luck!
