My son dropped a goat off that ate rhodie leaves.
She is grinding her teeth and had vomited early this morning.
Def. in distress.
I have given her some charcoal, two ibuprofen tablets, some probioitc paste and drenched her with some molassas water with a little goat mineral in it. I also gave her a shot of vitamen b complex.
I do not have any milk of mag. on hand though.
She will not eat at this point but did accept the drenching okay.
Anything else I should do
I don't know yet if she aspirated any vomit yet.

I've never had to deal with it but I've run across this recipe several times so it might be worth a try.

  • Ingredients:
    ¼ cup cooking oil
½ cup strong/strong cold tea (6 to 8 tea bags removed) ["English" tea]
    1 teaspoon ground ginger
    1 teaspoon baking soda
MIX ALL TOGETHER and drench the goat with it all.
How does this work?
Oil puts a lining on the stomach preventing more poison going into the system, tea is the antidote, and ginger relieves pain, baking soda helps bring up the gas.

I also have never had to deal with this, but Fiasco Farms has multiple recipes for poisons. I'm not sure if they have one for this case, but it doesn't hurt to check. I will give you a link to the page in a minute or so.

Aloe Vera Juice might help flush her out. I don't know the dose you'd need for sure though, maybe start with 1 tbsp in a cup of water a couple times a day and see if it'll help. I would think keeping the goat hydrated will be the most important thing at this stage, to allow the system to flush it and the kidneys and liver to process and work everything while hydrated.

Thanks a ton for the advice.
The poor thing is still vomiting stuff up.
We are giving her liquids every hour or so.
My main concern is that she is in pain. Grinding her teeth alot.
I am giving her aspirin and ground ginger right now until I can get my hands on some banamin

I know dish soap and water helps bloating getting the stomach cleared out, but i don't know if it would work for this. Also i do know sometime vegitable cooking oil helps. Neither will hurt her which you probably know, so if you try it and it doesnt work, nothing bad or worse will happen. I hope she gets better!

This morning the little goat seems to be getting better.
Thanks to my husbands dedication while I was not available to care for her, she may just recover after all.
I'm not sure just what worked as we did everything suggested.
Once again thank you for your suggestions!!!
