Scabs to rabbits ears

I have recently discovered some scabs to my male rabbits ear. It started with just the one and I initially thought his sister had been attacking him ... even tho they seem so loving when I see them running and playing in the garden. Over the past 10 days it has gone from one scab to 4 ... I have taken him to the Vet and he said he has seen nothing like it. There are no mites/flea infection in his ears and they look lovely and clean/pink.

Has anyone experienced the same? The only thing that has changed since these scabs appeared is that I have moved their hutch into the shed to keep them warm.

Any advice?

Bug/spider bites?

If they were outside or on the ground at all, I'd guess mites (not the kind that live in the ears, but the kind that live in bedding and come out to feed on the rabbits). My ground-raised kits started to get scabs/open wounds on them like this that were from mites. Though I am not sure how to safely treat for these!

Oh...maybe that's in Mysunwolf.
Had a rabbit running free and she had a half inch crusty spot on the back of her ear. I left it alone and watched it, it healed eventually. But I never could figure out what really caused it.

Looks like I'm just going to have to watch and see what happens. They were outside on a raised hutch and just been moved into the shed, still in the hutch, for extra shelter. strange the way only he has these scabs and she doesn't!! We've been given Manuka Honey to apply to the areas which are not infected or sore, just scabs!
