I have a 2 yr old bred Boer doe.
I noticed a couple of weeks ago she had a small amout of scaling on her legs just above the top of her front hoofs.

Now it has spread to her front and back legs. It is all over her "shins". Her legs are scaly, has hair loss, and seem to be tender.

Is this lice,mites or fungus?

I would guess mange or ringworm, but I don't know if goats can get either of them. Someone else would know more.

You would probably need a vet to do a scraping and have it checked out to know for sure. You could always start with assuming it is lice or mites and treat them with Ivomec or dust them.

Try the Ivomec first. I would guess that it's mange, but without seeing pics of it, it's hard to tell. The Ivomec won't hurt in any case.

I agree, I'd hit her w/ ivomec, AND dust her legs w/ livestock dust, and then if there's no improvement, some type of anti-fungal paste or cream that will kill ringworm.
I'd be more inclined to think it's a mite or lice, though...

I would treat for everything...ivermec, anti fungal wash/spray.

Also, do check her vulva, around eyes, udder and armpits for lesions...selenium deficiency can cause this, too. Altho, this does sound more environmental.

Thanks guys!

I dosed her with ivomec and started spraying her legs for a fungal infection. I will do a skin scraping to see what shows up.
