Hello!

I noticed a fresh spot of diarrhea yesterday, at the same time I noticed one of my ND's with diarrhea on his booty. Obviously it came from him. Upon further inspection... there was a couple smaller, dried spots in the goat yard and one almost blackberry poop that appeared fresh.

There has been no diet change, however, they have been doing some grazing on weeds in the yard. They don't eat much of the weeds, and the only other plant I know they nibbled was a star jasmine. (Didn't get much of it.) It suddenly became HOT here, within a day.

I gave a dose of ProBios last night and this am. No sign of diarrhea anywhere to be seen. He is eating fine, active and happy. Considering it appears to be a one time event... worry? Any other suggestions?

Not too long ago this ND had a negative fecal, but was skinny and not eating well. He since has fattened up and doing better on the 3-way hay vs Bermuda grass. He is 9 months old.

Given the quick weather change I'd say it's likely to be environmental. Boost the probios to 2-3x the dosage and give some gelatin (Jello powder) that you liquefy in water and drench orally to slow down the scour. That will likely take care of it.

If it continues into tomorrow afternoon, I'd take a fecal to your vet so you get it in before the weekend and have them test for cocci to be sure.

OK...now my other ND has it! Arg! First one 100%, for over 36 hours.

Putting a call into my vet.
