I'm looking at local craigslist postings for goats and ran across this:

I have two red goats and small jungle monkey I would like to trade for a young fighting rooster or set of ninja stars. Please call cause I don't do the email

Is this for real? Or is it some sort of code for a weird drug deal or something?

Also found this one which just makes me sad:

I have 2 dozen goats I need to get rid of. I had no idea raising goats would be this hard. These little bastards keep eating all my flowers and climbing on my goddamn cars. Nobody told me they were such good climbers. The first person to get these damn goats out of here can have them.

I'm going to have to stay off craigslist. I'll end up with hundreds of goats and no husband.

Good heavens. The first one sounds like a kid/teen.

The second one... I wish people would do research before getting animals! I'm so sad and tired of stories of people impulse buying chicks and ducklings for Easter, puppies for Xmas or some kind of farm animal just because they saw it at the petting zoo and thought wow, let's get some of those!

x2. I mean, it's really not that hard to google the breed of animal you're interested in buying and read a few web pages of information on care and whatnot before purchasing. If you aren't willing to do even the most minimum of reading and preparation, you really have no business purchasing a living being that will rely on you for everything it needs in life!
People like that irk me :he

I agree, the first one sounds like someone has too much time on their hands and the second one is just sad. I never cease to be horrified about how some people treat their animals.

@OneFineAcre Sadly this happens and all too often. I see them every now and then on BYC, people getting chicks and ducklings and then the little ones grow up and they realise how messy ducklings are and lose interest. It's maddening! A man I used to know saw my chickens and that I was selling eggs and decided it's a great idea to make money. He bought chickens and started hatching in great numbers and refused to listen to my advice and refused to make the efforts required with keeping a healthy flock, including buying them enough food, deworming and vaccinating them (which is compulsory here). After rescuing a few of his chicks I realised his mess is more than I can take on, so I ended up sending the state veterinarian round to his farm and walked away.

I hope they are both jokes. And as forr staying off craigslist. ...well i peeked one more time just minutes after a Nigerian wether was posted. Hes in my back yard now. Hubby was speechless. I think i need to find a support group for NOT getting goats.

 That is something I would do! Except with me it's chickens. I have yet to meet one I can resist.
