I live in Alabama so the winters are not bad. Would a 3 sided barn/shed be okay? We are thinking 8x16 for 4 Nigerian dwarf wethers. I could add a half wall maybe 5 ft tall for them to go behind. Also, what is the best material to use on the sides? We used smartboard on our chicken coop but I don't know if that's okay for the goats. Thank you so much.

I live in virginia and we just use a calf hut in the winter with some of ours, we have a barn, but it is reserved for does that are kidding in the winter and their kids. NO heat or anything in ours.

The biggest thing for you would be the heat in the summer, some shade and protection from rain, goats don't like to get wet. If it is cold and wet they are really unhappy. Sometimes in the winter if the weather was wet or snowy for 2 or 3 days in a row, I would feed the goats the best I could in the calf huts, instead of Making them have to eat outside in the wet weather.

I don't know anything about smart board. Sorry
