Some of you may remember Matilda, the FF Nubian doe we got at the end of May along with her 5 day old buckling. She almost died from a severe load of Barber Pole worms and anemia, causing her not to eat at all. She went downhill very quickly after arriving here.
These two pictures were taken around May 30. At that point she was barely eating any grass and hay, and wouldn't even nibble at her grain. We had our local vets run a fecal on her, and they said she had triple strongyle worms, and so we treated her accordingly. Although that didn't help any as far as we could tell.
We finally got her eating a few days after the above two photos (although right after this picture she went down from Barber Pole worms and lost even more weight). We had our more experienced vets come out and they dewormed her for BP, and after IV fluids, forcing her to eat with a syringe, B Complex shots, and a whole lot more she slowly began to improve. We had been bottle feeding her buckling all the while but she was soon able to make enough milk to resume feeding him herself.
These were taken July 29. She is slowly gaining back the weight she lost (she was only 50 pounds before! ).
These were taken yesterday. Her coat is all shiny now. When separating her buckling for about 14 hours, she is giving us a quart of milk in the mornings!
Love her FF udder...
And her buckling, Geoffrey, who is getting so big! (picture was from a couple weeks ago)
