Hi there,
Im the idiot that bought 3 pigs at an auction for a dollar. lol. Since then, I went out and bought some nice gilts, but I still have two of the original ones. One of the is super thin and wont gain weight or grow. He eats, drinks and uses the bathroom just fine. He is active. Hes been wormed with Ivomec and is now due for one more dose and I put vitamins and electrolytes in their water often. Ive had him like a month or two and he hasnt really grown or gained much weight. What could he have? Iron deficiency?
Also the other pig that limped with an abcess on his elbow still limps and it burst the night before I was going to drain it. I injected him and that area with pennycilin and nothing. He still limps and has a wierd looking elbow now. But theres nothing to be drained. :/

I had a pig like that, had to actually put him in his own pen, he ate just not enough, after a couple weeks he really started taking off and did real good. I had to make him some "special" food the first couple weeks, but after that he was all pig.

It's doubtful that he's deficient in anything. The problem with runt pigs is that their digestive system has been damaged at some time, and it just takes time for it to heal. Some never do get over it, but most do.

The pig with the swollen leg likely has a joint infection, and there's really not much you can do with them. These two are most likely why you were able to get them on the cheap. Give them a little TLC, and they will give you some meat eventually.
