Hello! I found this forum through a search on Piedmontese cattle. My husband and I live on two acres and rent another acre of pasture for our cow and heifer. I milk our 3/4 Jersey, 1/4 Holstein cow and she raises a few extra calves for us every year, too. The heifer was given to us and we were told she is part Piedmontese and part Holstein. She is bred to Jersey for an October calving and I plan on milking her, too.

I make a lot of cheese when we don't have foster calves and I also teach cheesemaking classes, where I have met a lot of very interesting people. I think I learn more than my students do because their questions really stretch my limits. We also raise chickens for eggs and meat, plus 3-4 butcher pigs each year. We have a big garden and are new to beekeeping this year.

I look forward to getting acquainted with you all here.

Welcome to BYH's. This is a great place for information about herd animals. There's a sister site called backyardchickens.com that is all about chickens and other types of fowl.

I'm into goats and I treasure this site. It's full of EXPERIENCED knowledgeable people who want to give assistance to newbies and other members too.

Watch out tho, it's addictive.
