I have a full blood registered Nubian doe that is a year old now. She is also in heat but is only 50 lbs. She is small and has always been small. I am pretty new to goats. Can i breed her? Pros/Cons because she is so small. I don't want to hurt her just curious. Thanks.

You can breed her but, I would breed her to another small nubian or a small breed of goat.

If she were mine, I wouldn't. I would wait until she was at least 75-80 pounds and/or 18 months old, especially since you said she's always been small. Then, when you do breed her, I would use a small buck for her first kidding.

I would probably get a fecal ran to see if she's got a parasite problem, coccidia can stunt the growth of goats.

I agree, we don't breed ours until they're at least 80#.

Good luck.

x2 If she is standard size nubian and not mini nubian, she is way under weight. We also wait until they are 80lbs or more.
