i picked up 3 new bunx at the end of february, my buck, Bigwig, Blackberry a broken black baby doe and Rowan a self black doe...

blackbery im not worried about, she had been kept in a seperate pen...
but Rowan had been put in a "general meat pen" as a male...and infact she is indeed female...
shes a lovely rabbit and perfect for my purposes...but didnt fit their needs so she was being sold as a pet/meaty/breeder no pedigree...

these are standard Rex rabbits, and she has been put in with her uncle and his son.
she was born in August of 11 (so at the time was about 1 week away from 6 months of age)
so whats the likelyhood, given her breed and her age that shes got some buns in the oven?

ive got her on the calender as a possible...well know for sure by the beginning of march...and ill set her up with a box just in case either way...
but im readong alot of conflict on the rex...there a "medium" breed so "should" be bred no earlier than 6 months, but other say there "large and it shoudl be closer to 8 months" ect...
seems they kinda fall "inbetween" as breeds go and im new to breeding rex, had rabbits in the past, helped others with thier buns, but never bred my own...
just want to know if its likely...they hadnt noticed any mating, and the males wernt bothering her while we were around, but they were not under 24/7 watch so who knows?!

if she is she would be a very young momma (7 months on march 7th) so other than make sure shes got a nice comfy next box and plenty of material to nest with, what else can i do to attempt to make a potential first litter (if its likley) most likely to suceed and thrive.
shes an incredibly personable bun, but then again all my rex are...and rex are typiclaly good mommas, but i know with first timers, they frequently loose litters...id rather avoid it if possible...

Your chances are 50/50. She is or she isn't. Only sure way to know is to palpate her. Otherwise, just treat her as if she is - put a nest box in at 28 days, watch for nesting behavior, see if she kindles. You'll get your answer one way or the other. If she does litter, sounds like she should be a good mom.

lol, im working on learning how to palpate...but need alot more experience before i can tell for relitivly sureness...
shes healthy shes a good size and shes eating well...she does drink a relitvly large amount compared to the other buns but her urine looks good (there all litterbox trained so i can keep check on those things lol) and poop is normal...
so healthwise im not worried...

shed be about 3 weeks along now if she is...would it still be safe to try and palpate her?! ive heard contradicting things on palpating after 12-14

given i dont know when/if she bred im going to set her up tomorrow as a just in case. shell be 22 days since i brought her home...but without knowing when she bred...if she did...id rather prep early...lol
i have solid floors so im not worried about babies ending up on wire ect...but i will be checking on her fairly regularly over the next 2 weeks or so to be sure.

Don't palpate just give her the nest box she will or she wont. In two weeks you will know.
