i have a goat she is a Nubian her hair is rough and it is starting to curl she is in milk and she is giving about a court of milk a day but her poop is coming out in clumps not pelts she had tape worms and i have treated her for them and have not seen any in a while. she is a little skinny but she eats and drinks very well i have wormed her with sydeckten (don't know how to spell it sorry) and still not looking any better

this goat farmer told me that i need to give her about 10 - 15 cc of peroxide wait about 10 min if she doesn't start to bubble out her rear end or her mouth then give it to her again. he said that this will clean any poison or anything that is in her stomach that might be hurting her and then wait about 25 min and then give her about 4 cc of mineral oil.

have any of you done this?

Oh my, that sounds just awful! I can't imagine doing that to a goat. I'm a newbie, sure, but that just sounds WRONG. Bubble out her rear in 10 minutes? Does anything pass through a goat that fast? Yipes.

I've had goats for 15 years and have never heard of doing that....And even if my most trusted vet told me to....I probably wouldn't.

I'd take a fecal sample to a vet to see if she still has a worm load...

how do her eyelids look (bright pink, light pink, gray)?

Are you offering her a GOOD, loose goat mineral (with copper)?

I would get her worms under control, give her some probiotics (Probios) for a few days, get her some good mineral, and feed her a handful of Black Oil Sunflower Seed 2x a day.

No peroxide needed!

That sounds like a terrible idea. You give peroxide to dogs to make them throw up intentionally.

I have only had goats for 3 years, but would not give peroxide.

I agree get a Vet's opinion.

I wouldn't do that without a vet's approval. That sure sounds like some dopey old wife's tail (yep tail) to me.

I sure haven't read anything about that on any of the many goat websites or books I've read.

I do rinse my mouth out with hydrogen peroxide if I have a sore spot. A dentist told me that was a great thing to do if you have a sore spot on your gums, cheeks.

But you spit it out, don't swallow it.

yeah ditto the BOSS, which is just a fat/oil additive. It will help put a little weight back on her and will help with the hair texture. Again mineral deficiencey usually shows up first as a poor hair coat, provide a goat formulated mineral free choice....Cydectin...That is what I would consider my "nuclear dewormer"after all else fails kind of thing...If you still feel there is a worm problem after a FAMACHA or fecal, you may have targeted the wrong worm with the wrong wormer. Iron supplement if the doe looks anemic, pale eyelids.....Peroxide? REALLY??? I would think long and hard about that one before trying it...
