Should my pregnant Nubian be receiving anything extra compared to my Mini Mancha? Right now they get free choice hay and loose mineral, they also get alfalfa pellets at night.

Does she need anything before giving birth? Medicine, special feed?

What about after? Will her kid(s) need anything?

This is my first time with a pregnant doe, I don’t want to mess up. I know accidents happen but I want to do everything in my ability to have it be good.

Pay attention to pregnant goats.
Nutrition begins for pregnant goats during the last months of pregnancy for the last two and a half months, until their baby is fed.
The last few months the child grows up quickly and pulls most of the elements of the body of his mother, so as not to suffer diseases deficiency on you with the support of special food special for pregnant.
It is simple and not complicated, and any consultation I am present and also the members will not shorten with you

how far along is she?

Are you in an area where you need to supplement with Selenium and copper?

I like giving some kelp meal and nutritional yeast as a treat during pregancy.

My area is low on Selenium, so I give one extra dose when the does are close to kidding.

I also have a calcium probiotic powder that is to be given a day or two before kidding.

For kidding all I have is a goat kid puller, a heating pad that can be kept always on (no automatic shut off after an hour ), an easy wash blanket, and a couple of baby bottles.

Fiasco Farms has a nice page on kidding.

Thanks. She is about 2&1/2 months pregnant, due March 20th. Our area is good on selenium, thankfully.

I read somewhere to redo the cdt vaccine a month before the doe is due, is that necessary even if she has had her annual booster? What about worming? I have some probiotic paste here already. Would that be fine or do I need to get the powder instead?

I'm no help on worming, but on the CDT question: yes, give her another shot a month before the expected delivery. This will pass some protection to the unborn kids.

This is a good article about CD & T

As far as deworming-
Many do deworm 30 days prior to kidding because parasites take advantage of those hormones being created by the dam. They tend to multiply rapidly.
If you do or do not deworm keep a very close eye on her FAMACHA especially 3-6 after kidding.
If FAMACHA score is not very good then you should consider deworming.
