My 8 year old son LOVES bacon. So much that he declared that he wanted to raise pigs! I'm on board with him, but I'm brand new to this whole pig-raising thing. I've ordered 3 weaners that we'll be picking up on June 8th. SO excited!

As a Mother's Day gift to me (I'm easy to please, what can I say!) my family decided to help me build a pig house! I procured a bunch of pallets from a local brewery (free!), got a few sheets of plywood from my ex-husband's work (free!), scavenged in my basement for a bunch of cedar tongue & groove siding (free!) and started building!

We're not quite finished (it started raining pretty hard on us yesterday afternoon), but it's shaping up to be a great little house!

So far we've spent no money (other than the money my ex used to purchase screws, but I believe they were left over from a job-site so those might even be free too!). I also purchased the galvanized steel roofing (not installed yet) at a HUGE bargain from someone who was selling her house & small farm. I also purchased 6 hog panels & some other misc. pig gear from her on the super cheap!

Here's how the house looks SO FAR! We might be able to work on it a bit this afternoon if the darn rain stays away!

Ok. Now that I've written this I have NO IDEA how to post my pictures!

I'll do a little research & post them a bit later......

Just a heads up, you won't be able to post pictures right away. The mods have set it up that all new members need to post a "certain amount" of times before they are allowed to post pictures. So post around and before you know it you will be able to post pictures.. :)
