Kurt is my apline doe that aborted a single buckling a few weeks ago. Still had soft hooves, no teeth and very small.

Shortly afterwards she started building an udder which I asked about and my mind was eased.

Her udder is still getting bigger. Not red, not hard not warm to the touch, etc.

Is there any possibility that she aborted on kid and retained another live kid? She is not off feed, acting just like the herd queen that she is.

Again I may just be over thinking things due to spending so much time out there. Sitting out there with Super goat gives me way way too much time to watch the other ones and come up with things I am doing wrong.

yes, they can abort from one side of their uterus and still be carrying on the other side. Although it isn't very common.

She could also have a percoscious(spelling??) udder.

I'm sure hoping that Kurt is OK. I don't know about something that unusual, I suppose anything is possible. 20kids knows a lot more than I do and I'm glad she posted.

I will say one thing, I thought I was the only person in the world that wanted to hang out in the goat barn or even better, the woods (although the ticks are out in full force right now) with the goats.

I can take a plastic chair, go out into the pasture/brouse (preferably far away from the house) and hide out for a couple of hours!! The goats like to come up to me and get brushed or scratched and I get incredibly calm and can zone out when I am with them.

Is that wacky or what??

Nope, not to my way of thinking! My goats bring me hours of entertainment, I could watch them all day. I laugh, smile, giggle, and am always in a super good mood when I just get to sit and observe them for a couple of hours. Stress relief!

Glad to hear I am not the only one.

DH falls asleep and I head to the barn. I guess there could be worse things.

Now time to look up the P udder word. If I figure out how to spell it I will share :)

I sure am glad to know there are others who share my addiction!! I have 14 pygmys-strictly pets-and i go out and sit with them while they browse. And then when we go into the barn when it gets dark, they get a few animal crackers-or carrots-or celery. They all have different likes so i take several different things for them. I just love my goats!!!!:love <3<3<3
