I am not to sure if this is called table breeding. I usually going the natural way. BUt i having allot of new does that are coming up for their first breeding. THe ones that dont breed or not to sure what to do., Is it ok that i go ahead a put them position to breed or it not a good idea , because doing it this way there is less chance of them getting pregnant this way. I am new to this table breeding. If it is called that. I call it force breeding. What do you think?

I've "force bred" rabbits many times. Take the doe to the buck's cage. If it's not accepting, hold the doe by the skin behind it's neck/back and use one hand to raise it's tail from underneath. Pull slightly toward the nose of the rabbit with the hand holding the skin behind it's neck which will raise the tail slightly. With an experienced buck, they usually jump right on and you'll have a successful mating.

Afterwards, the doe will usually allow a 2nd and 3rd mating without help. If not, assist the same way.

I have some that I started breeding at 5 months and are great breeders. They never got really big though. I have some other Commercial Pedigree NZ's that I won't be breeding until they reach about 8 months, or until they are completely matured in size. The reason I'm waiting is I have a lot of people buying breeding stock and they want to see what they can expect their rabbits they buy from me to turn out like. So it's simply a marketing reason, not a result-driven reason.

If I was only breeding for meat production, I'd start breeding at 5 or 6 months. Some people have very different opinions, which is fine.

Forgot to add that the reason I wait is because once you start breeding, they stop growing. Has no impact on litter size or fertility though.

THanks. Here they start around 16 weeks old. IT is for meat market only. THey say if wait to long they get to fat and they dont breed. I have already run into that problem. The 16 weeks is coming up next week and i have 15 does to breed. space apart of course. THe new buck waits till he is 5 months old. IT is funny how everyone does things different. I see that in U.S. and Canada and Europe.

Very true. Mine are all ration fed so I don't have any problems with them getting fat. Once they do start breeding, I do the 45 day accelerated breeding program which is very effective. I never have to force breed them once they're on the accelerated program. They are always receptive and breed easily. And they seem much healthier on this program.

I dont ration feed, Just the bucks only. I breed on the 10th day. But just when they are starting out is when i have a hard time with them. I dont like bring them to the buck to many times. I think once or twice is enough...

I bring mine to the buck once. I let him breed successfully with her 3 times and then she goes back to her cage. I don't take her back after that and rarely have unsuccessful breedings.
