Tennessee does have it's winter, Memphis has been a hub for Navy ATC training since the 70;s so most controllers do multiple tours there. I did 10 years of my 20 in Memphis and believe me, there was some bad winters. Back in the early 80's, we had a broad ice storm in January where we lost power for over 30 days, The damage was done starting up in Missouri and funneled down through Mississippi where all of the marginal power towers came tumbling down.

I had my follow up appointment with my Dr today but evidently, their parking lot was like an ice skating rink so she called and set up a zoom call instead. We got my new med sent in and we went in this afternoon to pick them up since we had to go in anyway since we had to pick up a set of boots that Teresa had ordered.

These are replacement Muck boots. Her old ones had a spot in the sole that was breaking down. She had the order in for quite a time but they kept coming up as back ordered.

Wow, that's a long time. Muck boots have a reputation with the farmers around here of breaking down where the bottom meets the upper fabric type stuff in about a year... most farmers around here have switched to DRY SHOD... I have a pair of the dry shod that are ankle high type... I cannot bend the left ankle enough to get anything higher(taller) on, unless it has like laces or something to "open" it up. Ankle replacement does not allow mechanical joint to straighten out enough to slide it in... it's aggravating but it doesn't hurt anymore so you work around that...
I found that the muck boots were way too hot for me in the summer... but I know people that wear them all year round. They were comfortable... Dry Shod are heavier weight.

I’ve worn Muck boots for years. My first pairs lasted forever despite constant use/abuse. The newer ones don’t last nearly as long. I had to replace a pair I’d only worn for a 2-3 years. My current pair has made it almost 4 years and are doing ok, but they’re kept inside and I really only wear them when it’s cold or muddy. I’ll have to look up Dry Shod.

We watched the last episode of Reacher Season 2 and it was as good as all of the rest. I have been a fan of Lee Child's books for a lot of years and the series did a great job of portraying what he wrote.

Our water is pretty much down to a trickle and the news is showing it as a supply/demand issue. Our country is fairly sparsely populated (around 17000 house holds plus businesses). The county is saying that the demand has been almost double over what is the average and the system just can't keep up. With everyone leaving their water moving to prevent freezing pipes, the system just can't handle what it's being asked to produce. It was sponge baths tonight but that is a small thing considering the temps out. It is going down to around 4 degrees by morning and even a couple of degrees cooler tomorrow night.
