My Nigerian doe had twins on March 15. She was an impossible milker and I was a first-timer so I gave up and let her just feed the kids. The kids went to new homes about a week ago and hadn't been nursing for a week or more before that. i assumed the doe was dried off.

Anyway, I'm milking my much better behaved younger doe now and decided to try out my new homemade hobble trick on the first doe. The milk I got was like cream almost. It came out easy, no smell, no clots, no hot or hard udder or anything. She was doing her best to tense up and close off the teats.

I'm not drinking the milk yet as the younger doe's baby is only a week and a half old and I'm told it can still have some bad tasting Colostrum in it. I'm just training her for now.
Any reason why this doe's milk would be like cream? Is it because she was drying off? Or because she was fighting not to give me any? Also about two weeks ago my buck broke out but I've seen her go into heat (Flagging, teasing the buck, head butting herdmate) since that I'm pretty sure. She's in good health, not wormy and getting grain, alfalfa and forage.

Thanks!

All my nigerians have super creamy milk. It is very heavy and rich. It is wonderful.
