This morning.... Coyote

So we have been seeing coyotes on the far side of the property away from the LGD's. Do not know the size of the pack but DS was able to get a clean shot this morning. They have been moving closer to where are sheep are... the sheep are unprotected.

She has been eating good apparently.

Wow it is surprising to see how different your coyotes are from ours here! Looks like you might be needing more LGDs soon.

DS is a little irritated as he was out there for deer... freezer is running low and not much season left.
Good clean shot though.

Sounds like you are going to need to protect your sheep. Hope your son gets a deer next time.

We have been bringing the sheep back everyday to a quarantine lot, it is plenty big for them but it is getting old. I may keep one of my pups and raise it up for that field but not sure yet. Our 4 other LGD's have been very "busy" lately in the middle of the night.
I'll pass that onto my DS...

That's a small one! Very pretty, though. The 'yotes we see in these local parts are bigger than that one with more white/grey coloring.

Would you look at those teeth, though!!! Nice and sharp. I would say a dog or two with those sheep before lambing time, huh?

She was just over 30 lbs and estimated at 1-3 years old.
The males here generally don't get much larger than 45 lbs.
Her teeth were rather impressive though. Closer to my German Shepherds mouth structure. Her pelt was very full and clean... she no doubt has been feeding well off the young deer.
