Well, Trixie's udder was a lot bigger this morning than it was yesterday and in the last half an hour she has started constantly calling out. She also has a very small amount of amber colored discharge. Baby watch has officially begun..... Will let you know when something happens. Think pink, but anything healthy would be great. :fl

Trixie quit carrying on as the evening worn and had no other signs she was going to kid. So I thought I had it wrong and went to bed. Well, I was wrong about that! Got up this morning and Bruce went out to feed the goats and Trixie had a single little doeling! She was all cleaned up and she was nursing before I left them a few minutes ago. I really thought she was going to have twins, but after feeling around she seemed to be finished. Glad it went well, because her first birth, with Waldo, I had to assist. This time she did it all on her own. How great is that! Here's pictures of the new little one. She's just perfect. She's down on her front knees in one of the pictures as she couldn't figure out how to get her back legs to bend. She'll figure it out. One down, 2 to go.....

I've checked and Trixie and the little one several times today and both are doing really well. The doeling has nursed several times and is getting the hang of it better. She actually was doing a little hopping around earlier and explored a little bit outside the shelter. It was a good day for her to be out for the first time as it was about 85 here today. It's always either feast or famine here in Texas with the weather, especially this year. Haven't weighed her, as Trixie throws a fit anytime I pick her up. Trixie is an excellent mother. They are both still in the pen with the rest of the herd and Trixie guards her well. I could move them to a separate pen for their protection, but Trixie gets upset anytime she's away from her mother and her year-old buckling. They are a tight knit family. As long as the baby is okay I'm going to leave them where they are. Still waiting on ET and Ginger to kid. Ginger is HUGE! I don't know how she's walking around with that much excess baggage on her. I'll get more pictures of the pregnant ones and of the baby tomorrow. I've been sick all day and the only thing I've done all day is look after the goats. I have my priorities you know!
