I have a 4 year old doe that has never been bred and her udder is starting to fill. The doe's teats are starting to enlarge and the udder is much larger than normal. What should I do? One vet said that I should milk her and another vet said to let her alone so she can dry up naturally. Has anyone experienced this in their herd and if so what do you suggest? Libby is a sweet goat in a herd which is down to 2 old goat (which I milked in past years) and Libby.

Never with one that age. Are you sure no one has a male goat in area? 🤔🤷😁 Hormones can happen.

If you do not milk her watch fill close for problems. Since you have milked and dried off, you know what to look for 🥰 Depends on whether you want to milk or not; want the milk, etc.

Personally, I'd give her a couple weeks to see if it progresses or not. Then decide on milking.

We had a Toggenburg doe that was a precocious milker but she was a yearling. Are you sure this doe ever been bred? I had a friend with a doe that had a false pregnancy. Went all the way to term, big expulsion of water and nothing else. She had me check her out inside to see if there were any kids and nothing.

Thank you all for you replies! I am positive that she is not bred. Every summer Libby produces a little milk. Vet said that it is hormones. But this year it is much bigger and the teats are extremely large. Four years ago I stopped milking my herd and just keep them happy.
