I found an area upstream and along the fence line, out of the creek bed but just along it that looked like it had been torn up by pigs. It seems that something was rooting around in the soil.

It left behind some hair. It is coarse, dark with a reddish tint and about 14" long.

Any ideas? I have my suspicions but I want to hear what y'all think without me giving you ideas.

El Chupacabra!! :D
Hogs perhaps tho I've never seen one with hair that long but it would be an extremely old one and a big un if it has hair that long. Their tracks look a lot like deer tracks, but more curved in.

To be honest tho, I'm thinking-------bear.

We have not had measurable rain for three weeks. It is rock hard and dry. I couldn't find any tracks. The creek at that spot is nothing more than a few muddy puddles.

Just from the hair and what you have described I would vote Bear.
Possible a really long haired hog but less likely than a bear I think. Look around at the trees. Around here, you can tell if there is bear nearby because the trees will be scratched up pretty bad around that area.

Could be a Bigfoot :hide:hu

That does NOT look like bear hair at all. I would have to go pig even though the hair is real long, but it can't be a bear. You should check for feces. See if you can figure out by that. There is some bear poo deep out in the woods here.

X2. Bear hair is SO much different! (you know this after you get within touching distance of a bear.... sure, it may be taxidermy, but still :p )

I vote pig !

My neighbor has game cams at his place. He said it was a horse! Apparently with the dry weather the neighbor downstream is havign trouble containing his horses. We have lots of grass and they don't.
