I am still not 100% about if it's vent disease or not... going to finish treatment on Winston and Alena and watch close. I cleaned up their genitals, both were were gunky, very smelly. Winston is retired anyways. Not sure about alena. I took a photo, not sure you can see the swelling. NCM_0185.JPG anyways all the other bunnies appear fine. No one else is showing signs at this point, definitely no open sores. I might see about having a swab done to see if it's definitely vd or something else. It seems in my close quarters and the fact that I have bred other rabbits that I would have more affected, more signs if it was. A wait and watch close situation.

With the colder weather Winston got bad again, I brought him inside for extra tlc but he passed. An unofficial autopsy just showed an very distended stomach. No signs of any bacterial infection. I just don't know what to think...

Oh dear. So sorry to hear you lost the little guy.
Rabbit stomach systems are quite touchy it seems.
I have had dismal success in treating with conventional medicines.
Hopefully Alena comes out of this okay.
Keep us posted

Vent disease questions : today I give shot #3 of the durapen, given at 5 day intervals as does are due end of this week. 5 day interval gave them 3 doses before kits are due.
So I have seen reccomendations to continue it for as long as 4 to 6 weeks.... should I continue in All rabbits or only ones that may be showing symptoms? I Really don't want to continue with the mamas on the chance kits survive at this point. Also my cage cleaning choice would be bleach and sunlight... can't do that with the cold, ect.... I have been spraying vinegar on cages.... should I do bleach instead..? Bunnies will be back in cages as I will do it when they get their shots. I worry about respiratory issues with bleach... but
