Ok, in the life before goats.....when I weeded garden....I would just toss it all to chickens and they would eat or not eat what they wanted.

When I pulled up the potatoes, I would toss green tops to chickens.

Now, being that the goats and chickens share a giant pen..... I am fearful to do this.

Hubby was concerned that they could eat something bad and get sick.

Should we be THIS concerned or tossing small handfuls of weeds pulled is ok.....

They do have free access of our yard every evening and all day on F-Su. so I would assume they get access to some of same weeds....

I can just stick in yard debris but would prefer to feed the animals with it rather than waste it....

I wouldn't give them potato greens. I think that is in the nightshade family of plants. Any other "weed" should be fine. I toss all mine into the goat yard hoping that some may take root or there might be something that isn't growing in their yard. ;)

Yep potatoes and tomatoes will go into yard debris can when pulled now, since they are both nightshade family.

I will just do rest then in chicken/goat pen! Good to know since I am working in garden today!
