I was out feeding and doing general chores this evening when I heard my husband yell he needed some help. Then I hear him holler fish on. "What the hell I think"
So I drop what I'm doing and come running.
January, a yearling sheep managed to impale her mouth with a hot wire gate thing. She had pierced herself and was stuck like a fish.
I walked in as calm and slow as I could to help her and she managed to pull off of the thing.
So I caught her up and put iodine on the wound. I'm hoping that stops any infection from starting.
Note to self. Pick up tetanus shot to have on hand.
I'm hoping she heals without incident. It amazes me how animals can manage to find stuff to get injured on.

Wow, hope she will be ok. Glad you were there.

The tetanus to have 'on hand' in case of stuff like this would be the antitoxin - it helps immediately (but only temporarily). The regular tetanus shot is tetanus toxiod, and it takes a few weeks to build immunity.

I had a lamb do that with a Bungee cord, dunno where she found it but she hooked it around a tree and thus, was attached to said tree herself... It took a few months to heal properly, she kept wedging her Cud into it.

Wow, they sure do find themselves in interesting situations. Glad you and your husband were there to find her!

YEAH. Me too. Poor sheep.
I'm just hoping it does not get bad.

Sorry for your January's incident.

Sheep tend to heal quite well. Keep a close eye on her and spray the outside with iodine from time to time.

Hope she is OK.
