I am just getting started with goats. I have 1 Nigerian dwarf doe that is almost 4 months, another Nigerian dwarf doe thats 8 weeks, and will soon have an 8 week old Nubian doe. Right now the Nigerians are on 1/2 cup of 12% sweet feed a day and free choice hay. Im not sure what the Nubian is on, as I don't have her yet. How long should I feed them grain? How much should I feed the Nubian when I get her? they will also have some forage available this summer. When they get old enough (when will that be?) to come off of the sweet feed, should I put them on Alfalfa pellets? Or just pull them off grain completely? Im not feeding Alfalfa hay, just whatever is being sold locally, I don't know if that makes a difference.
