Ridin' The Range
turns water yellow/green?
And no it isn't urine in the water![Wink ;) ;)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
We were at the fair and noticed the pens who had the biggest goats had all their water tinted this color. Their boer market wethers look like tanks. Their nubian dairy market wethers look to be the same size as most of the other boer goats in the other pens.
Just wondering what it might be?
These people are the leaders of the goat group in 4H. Last year they gave me some horrible advice and I took it over someone who is much more knowledgeable. It ended up stunting the growth of one of my does![Frown :( :(](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
This year, there is a new family in the group. They have boers. I think they got the same or worse advice. I honestly thought these boar market goats were mixed bred with pygmies. They ARE that little. The family said that they were purebred. They are brand new to goats as we were last year.
I think it is crazy that anyone would cheat at the expense of another animal at any time. But this is 4H at the local level and not state, is having your kid place first EVERY year worth harming other animals?
I am really kind of hoping to catch them on something.
Also, last year the largest animal was picked to win in every catagory. The judge was a friend of the above and I don't think had EVER owned a goat. The boar doe that won was so fat, she jiggled. She was picked because she was "the beefiest" and because "she had the best udder I have ever seen on a boer." Her udder was so grotesquely lopsided that my then 8 year old asked me what was wrong with her, thinking the goat must have been sick.
