When should I start putting food out for the kids to nibble. And how do I keep them from climbing in the bowl or pawing it over with their feet. They climb into mama's bowl and lick up bits of stuff. We do not have hay in Belize. Kids are nibbling on browse a bit.

I use a small dog food bowel with a no flip edge on it.

I start offering grain to ours at 3 weeks of age, they wont look interested at first ,so I keepa sprinkle out during the day, and the part they don't eat I feed to the adults each day and put out fresh at least one time a day, by 4 week or 5 weeks they are running for the grain.

You can make a little creep feed area(door just small enough for the babies) so you can keep the grain out and the adults wont eat it, if they are all together.

My babies were starting to eat grain at 2 weeks old. They are not eating a whole lot. I put out an extra bowl daily for the kids when I feed the adults. Then the kids get to nibble what they want and the moms can finish it up. My kids are 3 weeks old now and still just eat a little bit but slowly eating more and more.

The twin bucks attack the food bowl but the other 2 babies aren't interested yet. I'm putting mill feed, which is the bran and bits of grains, a bit of ground corn, out for the babies. I put a big bowl of mill feed mixed with minerals for the mama's if they want a snack.
I just didn't want to mess up the babies digestive systems by offering food too early on.
