When someone says they fed the pig cob, what is that. And what ration of pellet feed to cob would you feed? I need a decent diet to follow. I have pellet food, someone told me cob and I have access to fresh farm milk, rolled barley? Oats? Apples? ???

I know of a place in Ohio that delivers but the shipping rates are ridiculous!

Where are you located? Maybe someone can tell you of a local place you can go or of some good substitutes in your area.

If there is a Tractor Supply (TSC) near you they may carry them. Ours here in Ohio do.

Does your TSC carry whole barley? If so, I'll go ask mine if they can order it. I've had good success with sprouted barley with my dairy goats and laying hens, but can't get it around here.

Yes, although the cost is much higher than at the local feed mill.

COB is not a hog food, it is a ruminent feed. Too low in protein, way too low in Lysine, way too high in fiber for efficient hog growth.

The low price tag makes it tempting, trust me, I have tried a lot of things, -- but in the long term it is more expensive than feeding a properly formulated hog feed. Also - hogs do not use whole grains well at all -- again, you end up putting a lot through the animal for only a small gain. I once watched a neighbor pour bag after bag after bag of whole corn through his pigs. At 7 months they looked like my 4 month olds - only skinnier. I know a lot of people believe in feeding soaked grain. And I don't bother arguing, people are going to believe what they want to believe. But I would love to do a side by side test.
