Loving the herd life
I stepped outside just before dark last night and the goats were virtually yelling at me from their pen. I knew they had been fed and watered earlier and couldn't understand why they were belly aching so loudly. Of course, that prompted me to investigate a little further and as I got closer I realized ET was no where to be seen, but I could hear her yelling from inside the shelter. The other 3 were still having a fit yelling and running around excitedly. Upon getting to the shelter I found ET inside a dog crate I had left in their for them and somehow one of the other goats had most likely pushed the crate while she was in it so that the opening was up against a wall trapping her inside. I turned the crate around and of course her mother, Ginger, headed in there immediately and ET came out, but went right back in since her mother was in there, and nursed a few minutes to soothe herself. It took them all a few minutes to calm down, but they did eventually. Goats will certainly let you know when something is wrong! They just need someone to listen to them about it!
