I'm picking up my 3 weaner females on June 8th. They'll be 8 weeks old (or 10? Hmmm... can't remember!). Anyhoo - I know that it's approximately 6 months from birth to slaughter for pigs. I'm wondering if because I've got females and no males if I should push the slaughter a few weeks over the 6 month mark just to make sure they're good and FAT! We're planning a combination of pasturing & supplementing with commercial hog feed & food scraps from a local restaurant, deli & general store.
