What is the time people start bees? Is it april to may?

Generally new beekeepers will get their equipment in the fall and order bees in January and February. Some areas they sell out fast. It gives new bees time to paint and set up hive bodies and learn about bees and the equipment. Package bees in northern climates are usually around mid April to early May. Nucleus colonies may be earlier or later depending on whether they are local or shipped.
