I fed a few acorn squash to my goats over the last couple weeks and they loved them. I ran the whole thing through my food processer to dice it up into bite size pieces for them - skin and all. I was just given several more and I thought maybe I should make sure there isn't a problem feeding the skin and seeds along with the meat. They seem to like it and had no problems after eating them. They were small and I split one between the two of them.

Along those same lines, if squash skin/peel is ok, is there any produce that I need to worry about peeling before giving?

Thanks!

I've feed literally hundreds of squash and pumpkins to my goats this way, skin and all. They do fine on it.

I don't feed sweet potatoes or potatoes to them. Bananas are sprayed with pretty strong insecticides to keep the tropical spiders out of the grocery bins. That's all I can think of for now.

I have heard people mention that you shouldn't feed potatoes or tomatoes or eggplant to goats... however... my herd will go through spurts of craving potatoes, tomatoes and the occassional eggplant... I think there is something in them that they need...vitamins, minerals, I don't know, but they will eat only so much and then they are satisfied.
Squash are a beloved favorite for only 2 of my current herd of 5, also, my chickens LOVE any sort of squash seed!
