Kinders are dual purpose.. milk/meat.. have both a dairy and meat background.. nubian doe bred to pygmy buck.. so smaller in size.. first generations may not be that small though.. nubians tend to be sized down after 2nd to 3rd generations in my opinion.. as far as nigerians.. again a little package that is all dairy. if you are interested in compact milkers ( and there are many good milking lines out there) than a nigerian is for you.. not to mention i personally love their personalities.. have seemed friendlier than my pygmies as a whole.. know there are individuals though that would not fall into this.. but I guess it depends on what your purpose is with the scaled down goats.. one thing to consider also would be a mini nubian.. that is nubian doe X nigerian buck.. I love them and have one (2nd gen) and love the look of the roman nose/floppy ears but the size and personality of nigerian!

and... meat is meat. If you are only looking for personal meat supply, you can certainly get it from Nigerians. Kinders haven't "gotten" to our area really... so I don't have any personal experiences with them. I have NDG and love them.

Yes, meat is meat, but the issue comes with how much there is and how much feed it takes to get it. Dairy type goats can be eaten (I eat my LaMancha wethers) but there's not a lot of meat on them, and they are not as efficient at converting feed to muscle as meat breeds. I'm not certain how the Kinder compares to the Nigerian on that issue though. I would also guess that being "dual purpose" they don't milk anywhere near as heavily as a full dairy breed, so it's a bit of a compromise, depends on how much meat and how much milk you want I guess.

I breed registered kinders, my neighbor has nigerians.

I have owned or been around several breeds and I found Kinders to be my favorite but it's all a matter of opinion.

Kinders are a cross between a nubian and a pygmy. They are dual purpose.

They can be milked easily and can give quite a bit. A doe of mine was milking a nearly a quart twice a day on first freshening.

They have one of the highest butterfats so their milk is very yummy and good for cheese. They keep weight on easily and don't need a lot of feed compared to the dairy breeds such as nigerians to produce milk and stay healthy.

You get more meat % off them than a dairy goat. Their hooves grow slower and stay nice longer. Because they are a cross they have hybrid vigor and seem to not have many problems.

They also have mutiple births. 3 or 4 is common in a kidding. Up to 6 has happened.

They are very smart and have a lot of personality. My kinders all know their names and come when called. Several do tricks, and they can pull me in a sled. Right now I'm harness and cart training a couple and it's going good. Goatie my first can shake hands, bow, rear, moonwalk, and answer yes and no questions.

They are super sweet, and all look different. Some have straight ears some are droopy. Colors can be anything, noses can be dished or straight.

My kinders seem a lot quieter, calmer, and have more personality than the neighbors nigerians. I think they are also have a prettier body shape. Faces are adorable.
