I bought a new doe recently who had been wormed prior (according to the seller) But the seller suggested worming again after shipping. So I wormed all of the does at the same time with pellet wormer.

The new doe has very loose "cow plops" now and visible worms in it. One of the older does has a dirty butt so I assume she is also ploppy, but I haven't caught her.

All three of the milking does had less interest in food this morning. They have access to baking soda.

I have never had this kind of reaction to this wormer. Is this normal? I have never seen worms in their manure either.

I have also allowed them to browse more the last few days while we worked in their stalls.

I tossed their milk this morning because it creeped me out and the last few days milk I froze for soap making. :(

If this is due to worming, should I give them anything? How long should it last?

I've never had that type of reaction to deworming, but I'd be giving them all some form of a probiotic (yogurt, probios, Optizyme, etc.)

What do the worms you're seeing look like (white, rice-like or little brown wigglers?)

I do have probios. I gave it to the older doe this morning and then doubted myself, so came to ask you all.

The worms I saw last night were white and flat looking, not rice shaped, but irregular shaped and smallish. This morning there were those again and a long white worm, kind of ridged or ringed, like an earthworm....he gave me the willies.:(

I've seen worms passed after deworming. That's typically a good thing because it means they're being killed and passed. I'd pick that manure up and throw it away (just because I'm a little anal like that).

Okay, researching goat parasites only makes me more paranoid!

I'm going to go add revitalyte to their water and see if I can watch each one poop so I know who's loose.

Another possibility could maybe be...The fact that I gave them trimmings and branches from an apple tree yesterday. There were some tiny green apples on them. That may explain the ploppies.

I cleaned out their stalls yesterday and put down sweet pdz and sprinkled generously with DE. I'll pick up as much of the poo as I can today.

On closer inspection, the smaller worms look like pieces of a long one and when the worm is dead, it's flat, long, white.

That sounds like a tape worm to me, the pieces are the segments.

I'd use a 'white' wormer to treat them (double dose of safeguard for 3 days or valbazen if they're open...again for 3 days.)

Then you could have a fecal ran in 21 days to see if it 'worked'.

The good news is, Tapes aren't nearly as deadly as Barberpole, (but still not good...) and as long as their eyelids are pink and they act ok, other than the loose poo, treatment should clear them right up.
